You have been reading the scriptures which tell you that only God is real, and this has caused confusion in you. Bookish knowledge often creates confusion because only when you experience the truth will you be able to understand it.
So, start by meditating upon the statement that only God is real. Every day, spend at least half-hour meditating upon God. Engage in Pranayama and Yoga, every day. Be dedicated and disciplined, and maintain purity in thoughts, words and deeds. Eventually, the truth of the scriptures will be revealed to you through experience.
