When King Parikshit asked this question to Maharshi Shuka, he was told that chanting of the Lord’s name and singing His praises should be the last act of the dying man. So it is very clear that when death is approaching make the conditions conducive for the person to keep chanting God’s name with love and devotion. Most people spend their entire lifetime in gathering material wealth. And spending their energies in spending it on themselves and their loved ones. They hardly if ever remember the inner chanting of God’s name that they are required to do all through their lives. They least expect that death can come upon them at any time. So cultivate the habit of chanting God’s name inwardly at all times while carrying out any chore in life. Death may happen anytime.
