Guruji, what is the internal world and what is the external world? Please explain as to which world should we give more importance to?

External world is the world outside that is visible to our eyes. External light is required to view anything in the external world. We need the light of the sun or moon, fire or electricity, to help us to see and understand the objects in the external world. There is a limit to what we can see externally through our eyes. However, when it comes to the internal world, it is quite different.  We do not find any light in the inner world, yet inner world is a prototype of our external world. The prime flame that creates sun, moon and stars of the external world is also within us. Try to see that flame. This internal flame is itself the inner eye.  It is possible to see this internal flame through japa, dhyana and bhakti. When the inner eye is open, the entire universe can be seen.  This is a fact that can only be experienced.  Our external world reflects our internal world, and vice versa.

At times, we may be in an agitated state of mind, or in a state of intense anger, desire or hatred. This is because we have allowed our external world to drive us, to power us. We have not yet managed to explore our inner world – our inner selves. Instead, we continue to live outwardly, swaying to the whims and fancies of the external world. Once you observe this, you will realize how necessary it is for us to make efforts to go into our internal world where we are in control of ourselves through our inner Self. This is possible by taking up the practice of sitting in silence for a few minutes every day and meditating. As this habit of meditation gets stronger, you will find yourself becoming more and more powerful internally, and the outside world and circumstances will stop directing you into powerlessness.

Start your practice from today. As soon as you wake up in the morning, sit on your bed for 5 minutes with your eyes closed and concentrate upon the mid-point of your chest.  The ultimate God is in the lotus of your heart.  You can visualize Him in any form. With total concentration do a mental worship at your heart-center, then pray that this day be a good day, a day filled with love, peace, and harmony. Visualize yourself in such an environment where only peace exists. Once you finish, internally express your gratitude, place both the palms on your eyes, and enjoy the pleasant vibration within. Do this practice every day.  By and by you will find yourself beginning to enter into your inner world. Finally, one day you will experience and enjoy the internal flame, the bliss.  Also, take a few minutes at night, to meditate before sleep takes over. When you meditate in this manner, both in the morning and evening, you will observe your internal journey speeding up.
