Guruji, what exactly is that which we call God?

God is an experience of total love and bliss. Our scriptures refer to God as “Brahman”, that which is unchanging and infinite, the supreme reality, that which is the basis of all matter, energy, time, space, being, and everything in this universe.

According to the Isavasya Upanishad, the whole Universe is pervaded by God, who is both within and without it. He is the moving and the unmoving, He is far and near, He is within all these and without all these. The Mundaka Upanishad states that God is the Ocean into which each river of individual existence enters, in order to merge with and become one, being the supreme goal of life. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, it is told that God is the Pure Consciousness into which subjects and objects merge together in a state of Universality. Srimad Bhagavata says: He is Brahman(the Absolute), Paramatman(God), Bhagavan(the Incarnation).

Every human being is in one way or the other, seeking God. Every seeker has his or her own path to follow. The path may not be important, but the seeker’s faith and belief in the seeking is very important. It is the quality of the seeker’s quest that will lead him or her to God-realisation. Intensify your sadhana, and you shall definitely discover God. The realisation of God is the supreme goal of human existence. Therefore, meditate, do your sadhana, and seek the God within yourself. You shall then know the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God.
