Guruji, Is a Guru and his guidance essential for conducting one’s meditation practices?

As per our Himalayan tradition, it is preferable to take guidance from a Guru, by obtaining the “dhyana-diksha”. This shall definitely increase one’s will-power and interest in meditation. At times, the practice of meditation without guidance of a Guru may lead to a disturbed or confused mind. Though it may not be essential to have a Guru, it should be noted that according to our Indian tradition, any learning without the guidance of a proper teacher is considered incomplete.
