Reducing over sensitiveness by meditation

Guruji, I am an over sensitive person and get upset very fast. I wish to improve myself. Please advise me.

Over sensitiveness is a lack of control over the nervous system. It is necessary to have balanced emotional sensitivity. When anything distresses you, no matter what justification you have, you should know that you are falling prey to the situation. Balance your sensitivity with common sense, confidence and resilience. This will help you to not over-react to life’s situations.

Your thoughts, sentiments and emotions produce their impressions on the face Your face is a mirror of your inner self. Your thoughts of greed, jealousy, anger, revenge, etc., at once produce deep impressions upon your face. Always ensure that you keep your face calm and pleasant. When emotions and impulses trouble you, detach from the troubles. Just be a witness to your emotions and say to yourself: “I am not the mind. I am the Atman. I am Sat-Chit-Ananda. Nothing can disturb me.” When you repeat these thought-suggestions, the emotions will die by themselves.

Sensitiveness is not a spiritual habit. It is a nervous habit which takes away your peace and happiness. It is important to make a resolution that nothing will ever disturb your peace and happiness. Keep out all hatred, vengeance or desires. Do not act on the rebound. Practise to stay calm at all times, no matter what the stimuli.

The best method for overcoming oversensitivity is to take up a consistent and regular practice of meditation.
