Always remember your Guru. What is the significance of these words?

Guru gives certain directions and commands to each disciple in order to help the disciple with a smooth spiritual life. He makes an intellectual and spiritual study of a disciple and issues certain commands, which suits only that particular seeker. Periodically, after analyzing a disciple’s progress, he may alter the directions and commands. This means that a Guru always observes the disciple closely and guides him or her, as necessary. The Guru’s close observations and guidance alone can bring about success for the disciple.
