Guruji, I always worry about something or the other, all the time. How can I overcome this state of mind, and live a normal life?
It is very important for you to get into the regular practice of meditation. The main reason for worry is that instead of living in the present, you are trying to live in the future by imagining things that may or may not happen or you are living in the past and brooding over events that have already happened.
Like the insect that eats up the inside of a flower, worry eats up your inner strength without your knowledge. In the long run, it will damage upon your nervous system and physical health. So, it is better to start a routine of meditation, for at least 15 to 20 minutes two times a day. First, when you wake up in the morning and second, before you go to sleep at night.
Before you sit for meditation, chanting of mantras and concentration upon the incoming and outgoing breath, will help in quietening the mind. Then sit with closed eyes and meditate. Continue the practice with discipline and sincerity for at least three months. Carry out all your day-to-day activities by telling yourself, “This moment is mine and I shall do the best I can.”
Whenever a real issue crops up calmly think of the issue that you are facing, and analyse it. Write down its pros and cons, and the steps to remove it. If you are consistent and sincere with your practices, you will see that instead of worrying about anything and everything, you become a person who calmly attends to a real issue and tackles it smoothly.
