Cowpathy In Effective Cancer Cure : Endorsement through Research

Adequate numbers of experimental confirmation on the healing efficiency of cow urine on several ailments have been reported with reliable data. However, scientific validation of those outcomes through standard procedures is required to build global acceptability of this healing approach [18]. Several success stories of cancer therapy achieved through cow urine therapy are available in the form of case study reports and feedback from cancer patients. Properties of cow urine such as its ability to boost the body defense mechanisms, stop cell damage and death by preventing the formation/accumulation of toxic molecules in the body and its role in repairing DNA (genetic material controlling cellular processes) contribute to its role in cancer cure [18].

Breast cancer is one of the common cancers affecting women and currently affecting millions of women across the world. An experimental study to prove the complementary role of cow urine in enhancing the cancer medicine “Taxol‟, prescribed for cancer is reported by Chauhan [7]. The study has proved that addition of cow urine at a concentration of 1 μl/ml to anticancer medicine, Taxol enhances its activity by 2-20 folds.

A study report from Dr. N.K. Jain and his group on cow urine therapy provided to 63 cancer patients comprising cancer of the throat, breast, cervix, uterus, mouth, sinus, lung, blood and bone has claimed relief expressed by the patients on many symptoms like pain, burning sensation, irritation, inflammation, difficulty in swallowing, etc. at the end of an eight-day treatment session. Among the patients, those who were on cow urine therapy earlier showed even, more benefits. Based on these facts, the investigators concluded that cow urine therapy is a potential alternative therapy for cancer care [19]. Generally, the success of cancer therapy in allopathy is poor despite the availability of dozens of effective drugs for chemotherapy and other options like surgery and radiotherapy and often demands huge expenditure making it unaffordable to the poor [19]. Improvement in overall survival and quality of life of the patients receiving cow urine therapy has been reported [19].

Patents

US Patent No. 235262 entitled ‘Use cow urine distillate (Go-Mutra) as bioenhancer of anti-infective and anti-cancer agents”, awarded to CSIR, India, and the Go–Vigyan Anusandhan Kendra, Nagpur where the research work was carried out to demonstrates the application of bioactive fraction from cow urine as a bio-enhancer of antibiotics, anti-cancer agents and also as nutrient. The invention illustrates a novel pharmaceutical formulation consisting of an effective amount of bio-active fraction from cow urine acting as bioavailability facilitator which can be used as acceptable additives along with selected anticancer compounds, antibiotics, drugs, therapeutic and nutraceutical agents, ions and similar molecules which are targeted to the living tissues.

Another China patent (No. 100475221) entitled “Pharmaceutical composition containing cow urine distillate as an antioxidant”, issued to CSIR and NEERI, Nagpur, describes a composition capable of protecting/and or repairing DNA from damaging oxidative enzymes with active ingredients from cow urine, such as benzoic acid, and hexanoic acid, with ammonia ranging from 5-15mg/L, and optionally along with anti-oxidants. [20].

Mr. Virendra kumar Jain, Swaarnim Naturescience, Indore, is a pioneer in Cowpathy practice and has bagged patents on different therapeutic aspects of cow urine. Indian Patent No. 189078 has been awarded for his inventions on therapeutic ayurvedic formulations containing ingredients from cow urine and their applications for the treatment of wide range of diseases including cancer [21].

Challenges and Scope

The facts and figures illustrated above provide enough evidence on the research, development, commercialization and application of Cowpathy. As mentioned earlier, this article is focused on the application of Cowpathy on cancer cure and hence the information has been limited to cancer therapy alone. From the current state of affairs, it can be inferred that the ancient science of panchagavya therapy and cow urine therapy are reincarnating in the form of Cowpathy and creating a silent revolution, especially in the human health care through providing an effective solution for challenging diseases in modern medical systems, such as cancer. More elaborate and research-based evidence on the curative action of Cowpathy on several other diseases is available in the AYUSH portal [26].

Immediate challenges of Cowpathy lie in the systematic validation of the wide range of therapeutic actions, creating awareness among the public on its healing properties and building confidence among the patients to achieve public acceptance. An active involvement and participation of scientists, traditional healers, clinicians and most importantly the patients and their caretakers are demanded in achieving the above requirements [27]. Commitment from the Government and social service groups can catalyse the whole process in revitalizing this magnificent healing system. India being the treasure house of ancient healing practices like Ayurveda, the original source of Cowpathy and blessed with diverse races of indigenous cows [28], can establish a monopoly in Cowpathy across the world and will bring the wealth of health to people globally.
